The Lab grew out of the Mobile AR Studio Graduate Class which was first offered in 2007 and is the longest running AR graduate class. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NYU&#8217;s &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=j3lVZOdGgvc\">Mobile Augmented Reality Lab<\/a>&#8221; is a research group devoted to pioneering the field of mobile augmented reality with emerging AR technologies that are accessible to the general public.  The lab was founded by director&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/markskwarek.blogspot.com\/\">Mark Skwarek<\/a>, a full time faculty member at NYU&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.poly.edu\/academics\/programs\/integrated-digital-media-bs\">Integrated Digital Media Program<\/a>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Lab and class have a long list of historic firsts in the field of augmented reality including; the 1st AR organized protest (Occupy Wall Street), 1st AR voice recognition,  1st Realtime Visualization of an Internal Organ with AR using Bio Feedback,  1st AR Human Body (w Discovery Channel),  1st AR Conference on the East Coast of the USA, 1st NYT&#8217;s art review of AR-ever that included some of the class students ( Zhi Wei!), and 1st telepresence phone to phone. He is focusing on creating interactive arts with the new medium, especially AR&amp;VR.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Before going to NYU, he earned his B.S. from Shandong University in China where he worked at the <em>HCI&amp;VR Lab<\/em> for HCI research. Throughout his career, Parth has worked in various domains like research, creative agencies, software service and arts. He has published seven applications to the Android and iOS app stores. Parth is a co-founder of a mixed reality startup (stealth mode, for now). His interests include computer vision, gestural interfaces and wearable technologies. Most of his time is spent programming software solutions, but he also likes to create art works which critique popular culture, societal norms and contemporary games. He is passionate about using this technologies to re-introduce the human element into daily life. Shen-Fang is in charge of project and software implementation at the Mobile Augmented Reality Lab. His research includes Gaming, Advertising, Education, Medicine and industry applications. In his time as a student he has worked on several projects that involve\u00a03D animation of varying extents. Such projects include collaborations with CSAW\u00a0and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Not only has he developed skills in hand\u00a0animation but has expressed interest in motion capture technology prior\u00a0the installation of Motive Arena motion capture studio at Magnet. Since then\u00a0he was worked diligently to understand and utilize motion capture to the best of\u00a0his abilities. Alexandre is a Telecommunications Engineer with a Masters in Telematics Engineering. He is currently a part time student in the IT PhD programme of the University of Vigo (Spain), focusing in Mobile Augmented Reality applications. Since 2010, he has been working at Gradiant (an R&amp;D Center) as a researcher, participating in several Augmented Reality projects in the fields of automotive, industry, health and printed media. He was recently selected to join a summer intensive program at The School of Machines, Making, &amp; Make-Believe in Berlin, Germany.
